With the new option to see the annotations in the timeline viewer this makes now sense and is really a great option. However, if I just go to the live annotator and add annotations I can't see them in the timeline viewer because there is no "session". I have to start a live annotation session (using the record button) no matter if I record a video in parallel or not. Otherwise annotations still end up on the timeline but are not visible.
I would suggest to thus either not show or block the input field as long as no live annotation session has been started (maybe including a prompt that you should first start a session) OR I would automatically add the session annotation as soon as you start typing or something like that.Milan GressMilan Gresshttps://gitlab.rlp.net/motionbank/applications/systems-frontend/-/issues/1421Use "simple annotation item" in Live Annotator2022-03-15T09:34:10+01:00Rittershaus, DavidUse "simple annotation item" in Live AnnotatorAs soon as there is a "simple annotation item" (#1371) it should be used in the Live Annotator. As soon as there is a "simple annotation item" (#1371) it should be used in the Live Annotator.Update: Post-annotatorBöhm, JeanBöhm, Jeanhttps://gitlab.rlp.net/motionbank/applications/systems-frontend/-/issues/1413create "simple" annotation-item for Timeline Viewer and Live Annotate2022-03-07T07:59:30+01:00Hansen, Christiancreate "simple" annotation-item for Timeline Viewer and Live AnnotateUpdate: Post-annotatorhttps://gitlab.rlp.net/motionbank/applications/systems-frontend/-/issues/1370Add help/info to Live-Annotator2022-03-01T09:19:10+01:00Rittershaus, DavidAdd help/info to Live-AnnotatorAs suggested in #1348, the Live-Annotator needs explanation, especially for those users who did not (yet) get an introduction to Live-Annotation and end up there accidentally.

Please check my extensive suggestions in #1348 how this could be implemented.
I would further suggest to show a notification if a users ends up in the Live-Annotator for the first time, that shows something similar to this explanation and where you habe the option to choose "don't show this anymore" if you don't want it to pop up each time you access the Live-Annotator:

This is of course not working perfectly, because it's difficult to hit the record button of your camera at exactly the same moment, but if you try as good as possible, the offset won't be too big (and there is some "reaction" offset in live annotation anyway). I've tested this with writing down the time and it works quite well. The "time-save" button is just a little "helper".

Hitting the button creates an annotation with purpose linking (so it shows up in each view of the Timeline). It should say something like "Recording for Live-Annotation session started at hh:mm:ss".
The button does not need the text label like in the screenshot. It can use an "recording" material icon and the tooltip could say something like "saves the current time and date when you hit the button"Update: Post-annotatorBöhm, JeanBöhm, Jeanhttps://gitlab.rlp.net/motionbank/applications/systems-frontend/-/issues/947Live Annotate: could previous annotations remain visible?2022-02-24T17:47:26+01:00Rittershaus, DavidLive Annotate: could previous annotations remain visible?I'm really not sure about this suggestion, but I was wondering if the Live Annotator could still show the annotations one recently added?

- You still see the annotations you added if you leave the Live Annotator and resume (just a moment) later.
- Especially as long as the Timeline Viewer for now only displays videos it could be nice to revisit some of your more recent live annotations, especially as long as you did not yet upload the corresponding video.
Maybe in that regard in makes sense to somehow model in the data that annotations were added "live" or using the live annotator? Would be interesting anyway both for making that visible in the interface and for the evaluation of the data.
I created a small photoshop mockup, just to visualise that I have something in mind that should ideally not mess up the purity of the live annotation interface

The stream with previous annotations could be limited to the bottom (half faded) and anyway be "pushed" off the screen as soon as new annotations fill the screen.
